Most of us feel great comfort when we visit a loved one's final resting place. We can plant flowers, trace the engravings on a monument, speak aloud our thoughts, our worries, and our hopes. It is the perpetual memory of a life too short—and it will be there long after we and our children and our children's children are gone. Why You Need to Plan Ahead: Options are growing and changing, but basic choices include selecting a cemetery, purchasing a burial plot, deciding on a gravestone, and designing that gravestone. It's a matter of forever. What do you want forever to say about you? A solid preplan will include such eternal decisions. Without a preplan in place, choosing a burial spot and a monument become the responsibility of your loved ones, and they will be overwhelmed with all the decisions you didn't make. Preplan now. A funeral home director once told us that the first question he asks is, "Does the deceased have a cemetery lot"? This one question gives many answers to how far one has preplanned. Our invaluable database will help you find local monument dealers who can help you decide where to find a cemetery, and help you choose your final resting spot. Something to think about: remember that a monument really isn't for us—it’s for the family when we pass. Everybody needs a place to go to sit and be with the one they love. We are in the process of building a comprehensive end-of-life planning database. Check back soon or e-mail us for details. |
